Wallpapering made easy - get all necessary supplies & tools

Wallpapering begins with the choice of the fitting wallpaper for your needs. This decision may be based on style or colour, but you should also consider the wallpaper's characteristics. Depending on whether it is a paper wallpaper or a non-woven wallpaper you need a different paste. The processing is also different with both types of wallpapers. Furthermore light resistance and washability should be considered depending on the wallpaper's place and purpose.

You chose your wallpaper? Alright, now you need the fitting paste. Go for non-woven paste for non-woven wallpaper and special paste for paper wallpapers or all other wallpapers.

Now, you still need the right wallpapering tools. You may only need single items to complete your existing tool box. Or maybe you start from scratch so our tool sets may be interesting for you. Home improvement always starts with good preparation, so once you have your wallpapering equipment for processing, make sure you also have covering sheets for floors and maybe furniture, adhesive tape for door frames and further edges, as well as putty to fill cracks or level out uneven surfaces.

Wallpapering non-woven wallpapers: Advantage of non-woven wallpapers is that you can choose whether you want to apply non-woven paste to the wall or the wallpaper itself. Usually paste is applied to the wall, so the wallpaper paste does not dry too quick. Use a broad brush or tassel to apply paste evenly to the wall. As an alternative you can also use a paste roller. Which tool you choose, depends on personal preferences, the result is the same. After pasting the wall, attach fitted wallpaper to the wall without any soaking time, edge to edge. If necessary, the non-woven wallpaper can be rearranged until the wallpaper sits in the right spot. Use a wallpaper roller afterwards to get rid of possible air bubbles.

Wallpapering paper wallpapers: Apply paper wallpaper paste / special paste to tailored wallpaper. Loosely fold the upper 2/3 of the wallpaper and the lower 1/3 to the middle and let pasted wallpaper soak for 5-10 minutes. For perfect results keep all windows closed, so wallpaper and paste dry evenly once they are attached to the wall. You may also use a pasting machine. Pasting the wall does not work for paper wallpapers.
